Irene

Irene is a blogger and graduate student from San Diego.

Every now and then, I will be scrolling LinkedIn or Instagram, and I will see a post shared by Irene from RenRenSpeaks, and it is always such a beautifully written narrative. During February, she started blogging about a Black Is Beautiful Series, and she highlighted people I know and love like future guest of the pod, Chelsea, and current members of the pod, Arielsela, Cambria, Cameron, and Victoria. Recently, I even got my own Black is Beautiful spotlight! When Irene reached out about the interview, she was very clear that there was no such thing as too long of a response, and I couldn’t feel more seen.

I couldn’t think of a more suitable name for this episode than Storytelling as a Superpower because I believe that is a unique gift that both Irene and I share. We truly value the depth of meaning within the words that we use every single day. It is clear that we both also understand and appreciate the value of telling our stories. This episode gave us an opportunity to talk at lengths about storytelling, while taking some stops to talk about travel, taking care of our skin, and photography. Irene also gives us a beautiful gem of the moment she met her grandparents (for the first time) in Congo, one of my favorite stories from the pod to date. In case that wasn’t enough, we learn about Occupational Therapy, what it is, what it isn’t, and why it matters to her.
