Andre is a rapper, higher education professional, and political scientist from Shelby, North Carolina.

Andre and I go way back to my first week of my undergraduate career at UC San Diego, when I decided to declare trial by combat to the entire Class of 2017 via Facebook - “Who tryna get they ass beat in 2k?” Andre’s roommate commented on this status tagging him, and the challenge was issued. We met in front of Goody’s on-campus, and the notorious match ensued, no spoilers.

For Andre, one of his biggest priorities is making sure that his loved ones are able to eat and find nourishment holistically. This is embedded in everything that he does, from growing his own food and herbs in his garden, to his dedication to educating others on his unique understanding of the political landscape of the world from his academic experiences. As someone who has lived in many places during his journey from Shelby to San Diego, Andre blesses us with plenty of stories about his upbringing and how that has shaped his values and moral code. All of those experiences manifest beautifully through his music as he combines all of his gifts and interests to be a catalyst for change through his creative passion.
